An ESD wrist strap, or ground bracelet is an anti-static device used to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) by safely grounding a person working on electronic equipment. The ESD wrist strap is often connected to a 1 Megohm resistor. This resistor prevents shock hazard while working with low-voltage computer parts but allows high-voltage charges to filter through.
